Jason took the owner of Big Buck Scents {Cold Scents} Ian Mattison out for some Lower Dorchester MD crabbing . Jason's son Alex (11) was also in on the action for his first ever trip out and dipping crabs.
The crabs appeared to move off the shoal water 5' and less to some deeper depths of 8-10'. Where we were the crabs were light and we had to work at getting good "eaters". We ran 1200' of chx neck trot lines and snoods. 20 traps also helped us locate additional crabs. In MD a recreational crabber is alotted 1200' max of line and 30 traps with 2 bushel per boat (not person).
Enjoy the pics as we enjoyed eating these beautiful swimmers
This is how Chesapeake Pursuits uses its time until Sika season comes back in..
