A good ole fashioned seaduck hunt has been on the list since the the first time I tried it several years back. What gorgeous birds and what great company to share the hunt with. It was a perfect day on the water and the birds although not thick were around in enough numbers to give us a 4 man limit in 2.5 hours.
The day was ended with only 5 old squaw left to fill tags. Not feeling very confident it was going to happen quickly we sat back and waited. Not 5 mins into 5 gorgeous drake Old Squaw lit the decoys and it was over just like that!
With the news of fresh birds finally we hit some local puddle holes. Monday Pilchard connected on his (requested) Black duck. We broke open some holes in the ice on a public spot and had a few takers. Tuesday morning Eric and Jason hit another iced over private pond and shot a great limit of mallards and a few bonus ducks.
For an epically bad season so far its nice to change the tides.
Jason had the opportunity to have the kids for a week while they were out of school for Christmas break. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate nor the animlas or ducks! Fun was had regardless. Jason's daughter Brooke witnessed Mommy shooting (at) a whitetail on Brookes very first time in a tree stand.. Unfortunately mommies doe had other ideas hahaha.. The Boys Jacob ( Jason's nephew) and Alex (Jason's) son shared a few duck hunts as well as deer.. These kids are sure loving it and so are we.
